Game of Thrones season 8 theory: Fans believe Melisandre may be Jon Snow’s saviour

The seventh season of Game of Thrones ended all too quickly, many storylines remaining unfinished despite only six episodes remaining in total.

One character who could very well play a key role defeating the White Walker army is Melisandre, who was last seen leaving Dragonstone after urging Daenerys Targaryen and Varys to seek out Jon Snow.

As noted by fans, the Red Woman discussed heading for Volantis, saying she would return to Westeros where she will likely die.

Digital Spy notes one Reddit user who believes Melisandre is seeking out the Fiery Hand, a group of slave soldiers who guard the red temple of R’hllor — a God better known as the Lord of Light — located in Volantis.

In A Dance with Dragons, Tyrion sees members of the army (which always numbers 1,000; never more, never less) while watching one of the red priests preach.

Seeing as members of the religion believe in a messianic figure named the Prince That Was Promised/Azor Ahai, who Melisandre claims is either Dany or Jon, the army would likely venture to Westeros to fight for someone of such stature.

Plus, with Melisandre being thousands of years old, she likely has the ability to persuade them to leave Estos.

Like how Stannis saves the Night’s Watch, Sansa saves Jon’s army, and Dany saves Jon’s Northern expedition, fans believe Melisandre may save Jon when battling the White Walkers.

The only problem with the fan theory (other than being yet another scenario where Jon Snow gets miraculously saved) is how the Fiery Hand have not been introduced in Game of Thrones. Will there be room in the eighth season?

Meanwhile, another fan theory regarding the Night King has been circulating online, detailing the villain’s true motives for travelling South.
