Sometimes the term “Black Friday” seems like a misnomer. A possible replacement might include “Televisions-On-Sale Friday.” Yes, this is one of the most popular times of the year to score a big-ticket electronics item for comparatively little dinero, but sorting through the white noise can be a little difficult. If you’re in the mood to update your home entertainment system before Aunt Gertude and Uncle Melville stop by, we have picked some of your most attractive options here.

(Be sure to also check out our main Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals guides for a lot more sales.)

Buy on Jet, Samsung EXPIRED, Staples EXPIRED, Best Buy

Big, beautiful televisions are showstoppers, but many people don’t have the space for them–if you live in a small apartment, for example, or want a second set in your bedroom. This is a very decent price (under $200!) for smaller set with great HD picture quality and a wide viewing angle.

Buy on Amazon, Walmart

Samsung may have ended some of their other deals, but the price cuts on their smaller sets–still with great picture quality, so-so on sound–are coming fast and furious. This smaller set is Internet-enabled.

Buy on Walmart, Amazon

LG’s OLED TVs are the ne plus ultra of television displays. OLED, or “organic light-emitting diode,” displays are considered the best display tech available, and until recently, you couldn’t purchase a television with it for under $4000. Now is your chance to own one for under $2000.

Buy on Amazon

A lot of TV deals will float around throughout the holidays, and you probably can find a way to save another $50, but this TCL is a solid 55-inch 4K TV with built-in Roku (which you’ll want anyway). It will be difficult to find many TVs that offer this size and feature set for the price.

Buy on Dell

Sony’s performance-minded X-series 4K UHD set is a whopping $700 off this holiday, making it a great buy for home theatre buffs and sports fans alike. Even though it’s not OLED, it still boasts solid contrast and dynamic range, making it a great value for under $1,000.

Buy on Walmart

Vizio’s top-tier quality P-series sets don’t get discounts very often, and you can save $100 off the reasonable price of this 55-inch.

Buy on Amazon

Samsung’s rich, beautiful quantum-dot displays might be the future of television, but for now, their midrange offerings offer a very similar picture quality to the touted Q series and for, oh, say, a grand less.

Buy on Dell

This LG TV is a great deal for the price, and has LG’s fantastic WebOS interface.

Buy the 4K-Ready Roku Streaming Stick Plus for $50 ($20 off) on Amazon

Buy the HD-Ready Roku Streaming Stick for $32 ($18 off) on Amazon, Best Buy

If you don’t need 4K or an HDMI extension, the easy, simple Roku stick is the no-brainer solution for all your streaming needs. It offers an amazing variety of content through a number of different services, you can stream audio through your phone, and now it’s $15 off. If you do want 4K, the Streaming Stick Plus is also on sale.

Buy Sonos Playbar for $600 ($100 off) on Sonos and Amazon

Buy Sonos Playbase for $600 ($100 off) on Sonos and Amazon

It would be a travesty to match a gorgeous OLED display with a bunch of clunky speakers. Sonos very rarely goes on sale, so now’s your chance to pick up a a sleek, low-profile soundbar from one of the top manufacturers of wireless sound systems for $100 off. If you prefer, Sonos is also discounting its Playbase by $100, as well, though we prefer the Playbar.

Buy Sonos One with Alexa for $175 ($25 off) on Sonos and Amazon

Buy Sonos Play:1 for $150 ($50 off) on Sonos and Amazon

If you’re buying a Sonos Playbar for your TV, we also recommend picking up the Sonos Sub and 2 smaller Sonos speakers to complete your surround sound setup. The Play:1 speakers work fine, but just know that they don’t have microphones, so they don’t have Alexa. This isn’t a big deal if they’re acting as extended speakers for your TV, though.

Buy on Amazon

Amazon’s Fire TV stick doesn’t have 4K support, but with Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, and most major streaming apps, it gets the job done. We particularly like that the remote can be used with Alexa, enabling voice search for shows and movies.

Buy on Razer

Razer’s awesome soundbar and sub set pumps out quality sound without costing too much. It’s great for games, music, and movies alike and now you can save $50.

Buy on Best Buy

Polk is known for excellent sound at a reasonable price, and never more so when it’s half off.

Buy on Amazon

This is a fantastic entry-level soundbar and subwoofer combo. If you’re still relying on your TV’s sound, and something like a Sonos Playbar (see above) isn’t an option, invest in a soundbar like this. It will sound lightyears better than your TV speakers.

Buy on Amazon

These decent flexible speakers can work for gaming systems, PCs, or whatever you need. At $50, they are half off their normal price.

Buy for $200 on Logitech.com, $270 on Amazon

Getting a decent five-speaker surround sound system for $200 is very tough. If you’re on a budget, but still want surround, we recommend this deal.

Buy on Amazon

If you’re looking to delve into the next generation of TVs with four times more pixels (4K) and high-dynamic range (HDR) support for brighter contrast, this Sony is a great deal at about $650.

Buy on Walmart

This is a great price for an entry-level Samsung set that has Samsung’s Tizen smart TV platform and excellent HD picture quality.
